Victorian Days

Celebrate San Mateo County during our annual festival on August 21. Stroll down History Lane, make crafts from yesteryear and listen to stories of Victorian millionaires.

Family Fun
Rotunda from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Making Bear FlagsCreate a Victorian hat, build a steamship, design a "stained glass" window, play with a thaumatrope and discover other crafts from the Victorian era.

 

Love and Marriage: Victorian Style
Courtroom A at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Love and Marriage: Victorian Style explores courtship rituals, wedding traditions and marriages Play pictureof millionaires. Set during an engagement party at a Peninsula estate, guests gossip about other famous couples of the Peninsula. While the ladies complain about how difficult it is to find a good man, the gentleman bemoan another poor fellow being trapped into marriage.
The play is based on research conducted in the Historical Association archives. While the characters are fictional, the couples they discuss lived on the Peninsula in the late 1800s.
